I was raised in a family of 11 on a farm in Iowa.  From there, God saved and called me to serve Him at young age.  I met my wife, Amber at Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, IA).  We have 3 children Collin (Wife, Marie), M’Kenzie and Capri.  I received my M.Div from Luther Rice Seminary (Ministry major) and am working on a PhD in Biblical Counseling (Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary).

I’ve served in a broad range of ministries since 1996:  Christian camping (Iowa, Indiana, Alaska); Youth ministry, Music ministry, church planter and missionary (IMB, 2008-2020, China/Malaysia).  God has guided us to the tri-state area to make disciples of all people and to lead them to fulfill the mission of God.

God has given me a passion for Him and to communicate His Word.  We love being around people and helping them to develop into devoted followers of Christ.  Our passion is evangelism and discipleship.  Our church mission statement is, “Leading generations to make disciples of Jesus Christ in all the world.”

I serve as the Unity Kidz director.  I graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College with a double major in Elementary Education and Bible. I am also a certified Doula and Biblical Counselor (ACBC certified), and have taught and hosted sessions in homeschool conferences around the world to encourage parents to use God’s Word as our foundation for how we teach, train, instruct, and encourage our children. I’ve been a teacher in traditional schools and homeschools for 24 yrs and have been an educational consultant in China for public and Christian schools alike. 

 

We’ve reared 3 children to adulthood and have recently been promoted to the rank of grandma!  I’m passionate about children’s ministry, and desire to “turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents (Malachi 4:6).”  

 

Our unique approach to children’s ministry is to work with you (the parents) to help you enjoy a fulfilling relationship with your children and to point their hearts to Christ.  We have several opportunities to serve your young ones:  Nursery, Children’s Church, Children’s Community Hour, AWANA, Children’s’ Choir, Wednesday Night Story and Craft Hour, BackYard Bible clubs (Summer), Parents’ Nite Out, Children’s service oppts, and more. Even our facilities are fashioned in such a way to create an atmosphere of immersion into discipleship! 

 

We take the security of our little ones very seriously.  Every worker is a member of the church (for at least 3-6 months) and has been given a thorough background check.   They are personally interviewed and paired with someone else who is not related to oversee each children’s class.  Children are never left alone with a single adult.   Each worker receives ongoing training in children’s ministry and child security.  

We are excited to meet your little one and pray you will entrust them to the Unity Church family and allow us to “walk alongside” you in our life-on-life approach to biblical families.
